I'm Still Alive

Yes, I am still alive!  There's been quite a long delay in posts and that's due to my soul sucking journey back to the United States of America.  It's great to be back in the US it's that getting here can crush your will to live.

I'm working on some posts, seeing my wife, drinking a beer and eating food that didn't come out of a cardboard box have taken priority over writing blogs posts.

I'm also trying to convince myself that the kids running up and down my street are not reconing my house for a possible IED or rocket attack.

In attempting to formulate my ideas about my journey into a coherent post; truth is stranger than fiction comes to mind.  Conrad's Heart of Darkness is a good base to start from, so that's what I think I'll use.

So; I just wanted to give you a SITREP and let you know that I'm alive and kicking and will be back up on the net soon.

Damn, there goes that kid again up the street.  He looks kind of fishy, may have to plan a Cordon and Search of the playground!

Enjoy your leave Sir. And your wife. And your beer. With respect to the kid; apparently rendition is still an option. Perhaps the nearest treehouse?

Glad to hear all is well. I'll be the first person from my Task Force to go on R&R in the beginning of March. I was already skeptical about the Army's ability to act as a trustworthy travel agent, but hearing your assessment only scares me more. If you have any tips on slaying this beast, they would be appreciated.

Great to hear you made it home. Hope all your team has too.

I think, if you have not already done so, you should take your commander and chief...codename "The Wife"...out and have a nice dinner in some quiet spot.

Not sure the favs of your and yours...but, my recommendation....

    For the missus...whatever she wants.

For you...sitting with your mouth shut, except when she gives you permission to speak, picking up the tab for the meal, a nice thing of flowers and chocolates and a good romantic chic flick after.

Yeah, I know that might not sound nice to you...or it may given where you been...but, I venture to say it might pay some nice dividends in the long term.

By the way...I have to ask...

Did you manage to get mail before you left or are they going to be delivering that today...*snerk*

So glad that you posted today. I was wondering what happened to you. I just found your blog a few days ago. I read it from start to finish. It's super! I almost posted a link to it on the Washington Post website today in response to a column on the Obama administration's plans for Afghanistan, then I thought better of it. There are a lot of wierdos commenting there.

I'm wondering if you ever got your mail? When my son was there the last time, his team's mail got all messed up because a group left his FOB and went back to the States. It took some time, but I tracked their mail to Louisianna. Maybe the same thing happened with your mail.

Enjoy your time at home. I'm sending extra hugs to your whole family.

Be sure to enjoy a beer and steak at Outback on me. And remember, it's the thought that counts, since the money will come out of someone else's wallet.
